I can't edit this page. Perhaps someone can add this in the appropriate place for me...

Error in Apache HTTPd 2.2.x log files with mod_perl 2: DBI connect('PostgreSQL35W','postgres',...) failed: Communication closed during authentication; Connection reset by peer. (SQL-28000) at C:/Perl/site/lib/DBIx/Class/Storage/ line 839

Configuration details: Apache HTTPd v2.2.x and PostgreSQL v8.3 on Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit with SP1, Perl 5.10, mod_perl 2, libapreq2, DBIC (DBIx::Class, which in turn uses DBI). ODBC is used to access PostgreSQL.

After 128 connections via ODBC to PostgreSQL, the "Connection reset by peer" error is appended to Apache's main error logs (and not the relevant VirtualHost's error log file), and the web browser displays an "Internal server error" page. Reloading the page in the web browser resolves the problem.

Caution: If you want to use ODBC to access PostgreSQL in production, be aware of this problem if you're using Windows Vista. This did not occur for me in Windows XP Pro./Home SP3/SP4.

If running PostgreSQL as Windows service then the "... more than about 125 connections ..." issue may apply. – Conradpino (talk) 18:06, 5 October 2013 (UTC)
